It is only considered racist or chauvinist now because perspectives have changed since the movie was made. It is like anything else it might be acceptable today but not tomorrow. Or vice versa.

The movie was a comedy it was meant to be fun and funny. The makers and actors in that movie didn't go into it saying hey lets make a movie that offends people. I will agree though that they screwed Ernie Hudson based off an interview he gave about the part he was originally offered.


The reboot(remake) is an abomination for the simple fact instead of doing something original they decided to take an idea and remake it the exact opposite instead of fixing it they just reversed the cycle. The original movie had a very strong following almost cult like in some cases which didnt differentiate by color or gender. They are taking someone else's movie and using the name and idea to sell tickets.
