Is there any way to get the swarm mother to spawn or is it just random/timer?

The linked quest seems pretty pointless, aside from lore, as it has no rewards. Anyone know of any other related quests?

I saw the swamp group once while running from NK to WK but I heard that it's a tough fight because when you attack the Momma beetle, you have all the rest of the baby beetles to fight as well.

You can just peel off all the baby beetles one by one, especially if you can sneak pull or harmony/lull. I think there are about 40 little ones. They will aggro you on proximity regardless of level and if you're under 30, all of them at once might really hurt a lot.

I've found that paying attention to positioning, and harmony on the swarm mother followed by a pull with ensnare usually nets 0 adds. Just make sure you pull her to one side or the other and not in the path if you plan to root rot. I believe she's level 35? I never tried her before level 40 as I'd not seen her up before that.

a sneak pull may also work as well depending on her position in the swarm. For melee, be aware that she does proc rabies.

I single pulled the swarm mother yesterday in WK just using Tash with my 41 ENC. Had no issue with any swarmling aggro. However it could be that even though I was close enough to Tash the swarm mother, I was outside the swarmling aggro range.

If you are 50+ the lower level beetles ignore you and you can single the swarm mother with ease.
