Lightbulb Idea: Planned Leveling Duo/Trio/Group

Hi again! I started P99 a couple weeks back. I'm fairly casual, but I'm really intrigued by re-experiencing all that Norrath has to offer.

Unfortunately, so far I've had to go solo more often than not. It works OK, even as a non-twink, but it's kinda boring. So I want to find a solution, and the way I see it there are only two:
1. Join a leveling guild
2. Form a planned leveling team with (some amount of) scheduled play

Option 1 seems OK, but guilds are still pretty random. You might log in right after the group filled up or the only people on could be too far away or outside your level range. When you only have a dozen or so hours a week to play, you don't want to waste any of it finding groups/traveling to location, etc. You just want to log in and go. I know some may consider this stance decidedly "un-classic." That's fine and probably true. But it's also "un-fun," which takes precedence in my book.

So I propose a planned leveling group. As many people who want to join are welcome (max of 6, obviously), but preferably it would consist of a really solid duo/trio. The core concepts would be:
- Planned times and locations (e.g. play Friday @ 8 PM, meet up at Unrest)
- Foundation of classes that duo/trio well together
- This foundation may only gain exp together, so everyone stays near same level
- Preferably an emphasis on dungeon exploration over pure exp gain, but outdoor zones are cool too (could come up with democratic system to handle where the group goes and when, etc.)
- Must want to play the game well and take criticism/suggestions gracefully (the goal is successful exploration of Norrath, after all!)
- Must want to chat and experience the game together; RL topics are cool too

For my part, I have a couple characters already, but would TOTALLY be willing to reroll to start a good foundation with a couple/few others. Characters I have or am interesting in trying (* indicates new):
- 14 Barb Shaman
- 10 Dwarf Rogue
- * Dwarf Paladin, Warrior, or Cleric
- * High Elf Enchanter
- * Iksar Monk (maybe--kinda seems like the server has enough of these guys already)

Times I'm available are: Wed - Sun, 8:30 PM EST - 12:30 AM EST

So, what do you guys think? Any takers? Any comments, suggestions, or tweaks?

Reach out to Vita Infinita. it's a guild for brand new players strictly for leveling/socializing new characters.

Appreciate the response. That is my official plan B (option 1 from the OP). Just testing the waters to see if a better option is out there.

Default Leveling Group

This type of leveling group is exactly what I'm looking for. I've done this very thing before in both EQ Live and WoW as both a duo and trio and I highly recommend it.

Have only been on P99 about a week and rolled up a couple of different characters, would not be opposed to rolling up a cleric if you could use one.

I've got a level 9 shaman I'd love to have a partner for, or trio even. I have a few buddies who play here but I don't have great amounts of time to play. However your time frames would be acceptable. If you wanna duo with that rogue sometime I'd be happy to!

Seeken Destroy - 32 Gnome Wizard - Leader of Gnomercy
Webee - 9 Ogre Shaman - He can fart the alphabet.

Glad to see there's some interest! So it looks like we've got a shaman and maybe a cleric?

Would an enchanter complement that duo? It seems a little unorthodox without melee/dedicated dps at first glance, but there are some big advantages too. We'd all be able to bind anywhere, we'd have plenty of healing (and mana with which to do it). If we do find a tank and a dps, we could do pretty much anything level-appropriate. And eventually we'd have a charmed pet and wolf pet too.

I can't really see anything else working with cleric/shaman (that I'm interested in playing). Maybe a tank? Seems iffy to have a low-dps non-twink tank as part of that duo.

So what do you guys think? Shaman, enchanter, cleric? Should we adjust something?

I'm interested, although my playtime is a little more limited. It's more like 9-10:30 est. almost every night.

18 dwarf rogue
6 delf enchanter
8 or so bard

I'd be interested in playing any of those

When my friends are online we have monk/shaman/chanter and its very efficient. If we were to put a melee type in I'd recommend SK or monk.

I've done the rogue/shaman duo a lot. Both as the the rogue and as the shaman. It's underrated for sure. Adding anything to that is fine. If your 2 play times match up, I'd suggest doing that and adding whoever else. Literally every class has something to make this duo better.

I'd be into this, too. I have a few characters levels 11-47 but I'd happily roll a new, untwinked toon to join this group!
