I had the same dilemma when I started. Ended up going with enchanter. Glad I did, although I'm thinking of rolling a druid alt now.

Once you get a taste for the destruction that is enchanter charm soloing, it's hard to solo as another class again. Quad kiting on a druid looks fun, but taking mobs two at a time with little mana loss as a chanter is very fun and effective. And you can dungeon crawl solo as well if you're feeling frisky.

Plus enchanters are always wanted in groups too. And they can compliment pretty much any other class in a duo/trio situation.

Not to take away from druid at all, because I think they're awesome too, especially as a first char. Soloing, porting, grouping until higher levels, etc.
