Serious question:

What was the intent of the "roll winner must be the one turning in the Marching Orders" rule anyway?

I realize that, without this rule, people would have 50+ members of the guild all randoming for one person....but that's the way it is now anyway. It takes, what, 3-5 hours to get a new Marching Orders, but you can only get one Gloradin every 24 hours? People get Marching Orders on 3 characters just to roll for the one character they intend to get the ring...

I've lost ring rolls to a multitude of people that are already wearing the the 10th ring AND the 9th ring, then "WTS 8th Ring Loot rights - my orders -> your loots / 8th Ring" (always Awakened, side note). I thought the rule was implemented to combat this exact practice.

P.S. I also realize that this rule was lobbied for by many that have long since gotten their ring(s) and, therefore, don't give a shit what happens anymore, but what's right is right.
Sounds like there's greedy players on the server [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Pretty sure the intent was just to prevent 50 dudes from rolling and letting their pal turn his in.
This is happening anyway. A bunch of people show up to roll and "sell" the loot rights for 1 copper.

Does it suck to see it get sold, yes. But you can apply that to anything on P99. Scout turn ins, Hierophant camp in Seb, KDT in Kael. There's plenty of content people just farm to sell when plenty of people want to do it legit for their own use. Just the way of the server.
I mean, I just disagree that those examples are comparable to logging in at a very precise time, randoming, and logging back out.

I leave my character at the camp in EW, because I just can't do this every day. I can't keep tracking down a port, banking to have plat for that port (I'm a monk), the on-foot travel time, then whatever additional time is set aside to make sure I'm not late for the roll and miss it. I want to be able to play my character again!

I've lost to the same guy on two consecutive days.
I've lost to a different guy two consecutive days and a third time on the fourth day same person 3-of-4 days).
I've lost with a 987, because the person who rolled a 998 couldn't get the guy who was intending to loot the head and do the turn-in out there before Garadain died, then won it again literally 2 days later for a different person to loot and turn-in.

It's just crazy. You know there wouldn't be so much competition every single day if a once-a-day bottleneck like this required the same person doing the quest to be the same person looting the head.

I like Daldaen's approach to FTE camps ... 2 hours to respawn.

No, it isn't happening. Again, if the person winning the roll has Marching Orders, and turns them in, whatever happens beyond that point isn't really my concern.

The problem would be if 50 people roll but only one person has marching orders. That would be an issue.

But if a guy is doing Marching Orders (all 7 prior quests including 2 escorts, 1 event fight, 2 tradeskill combines, and 1 uncommon camp) they should be able to do whatever they want with the Chief head. I know this could be accomplished in one days playtime, but it really is a 4-5 hour long quest if you're camping every piece and doing every script.

As an example, I did all the quests on my Druid because Druids are awesome in this zone, turned in the marching orders, killed chief, swapped to alt monk to loot the chief head and turned in. I should most certainly be allowed to do this. What your proposing wouldn't allow it.

Ive lost the roll probably 50+ times at this point over 5-6 months. I'll keep showing up 1 or 2 times a week and losing until I win. The alternative is a huge cluster in the hut spam clicking just as awful as Scout Charissa is currently where you can't win unless you are set up inside the exact point she spawns which is pants on head retarded.

But yea, all long Respawns set to 2 hours would fix all this stuff and let people play the game and do the quests to fulfill their desire to get immersed in trilogy EQ.

this is a horror story, let this man have a Chief head ffs

losing with a 987 in that fashion is just wrong

This is pretty much the common mentality on this server when involving any higher end item.

Casuals will always miss out on top tier items because pixel hoarding neckbeards that can't get enough pixels make the entire process of getting said pixels impossible without investing tons of time into this retarded modus operandi.

It's the same way in successful top tier raid guilds too. The whole system favors the same greedy players over and over again.

I never get used to just how pathetic and greedy people can be over pixelated items and stuff.

Nothing turns my stomach more than witnessing this selfish behavior in a game, and I wish there were better ways for everyone to enjoy top end items, but there simply isn't.

As a casual you will not have those uber pixels, but you will have your dignity and thorough enjoyment of the games more simpler pleasures still.

As a true neckbeard, you will have BiS items and feel awesome looking in your inventory, but you most likely will have sacrificed dignity and lost respect from other players getting those pixels.

You choose which way to go.
