I had over 20 AC difference between my Ogre and Iksar at lvl 20.
Exactly same gear and skills, ogre had 669 and iksar 696 only difference was agi at 80 for ogre and 99 for iksar.
Agi difference is like 5 AC?

~3agi=1ac, so yeah, 6 or so AC from agi, so 21 ac from lizard bonus. lizard warrior gets higher bonus than other lizards. They start w/ 17. Other lizards start at 15.

AC is not just AC, Iksars have a higher AC softcap which makes them take roughly 7% less dmg than any other race with the same exact AC. Which is ALOT.

TL.DR An iksar monk with 1000 AC takes roughly 7% less dmg than a human monk with 1000 AC.

AC or not.

Passive Regen is king.

Fat ass Ogre Monk doing a flying kick would be hilarious. If only :}

Makes me think of Beverly Hills Ninja. RIP Chris Farley.

Hi,

I am considering to reroll my 39 iksar monk as human. Reason? Fashionquest + exp penalty of iksar is boring (also, I regret my spending of the 20 starting skill points).

Only thing holding me back at the moment is the alleged Iksar AC bonus. Have anyone parsed this properly or can give some insight into how big (if any) the effect of this bonus is?

In before comments about regen and min/maxing: Yes, I know.

Thanks for any input given!
If you choose a human monk over iksar post kunark you're just plain insane.

I remember on live during the velious-pop AC system revamp being surprised to read in a dev post that Iksar AC actually boosted avoidance, not mitigation.

Is that the case here?

It's all personal preference. There are some things people are willing to compromise on. I would choose a Gnome Enchanter over High Elf Enchanter because with Velious I think you can max Int/Cha without too much trouble.

I created a human monk before Kunark was released and I was new to the server. I didn't want to re-roll after having 30 or so levels, then when I got higher and higher I just got deeper and deeper into my humanness and always regretted it. As Kunark came to an end I had jboots, full plane of sky armor, all the crescent and shiverback pieces I needed, hella keys, OT hammer, peggy cloak, no drop mask. It would have been tough to re-roll. I also didn't want to deal with both the monk and iksar leveling penalties.

Everytime I thought of the billions of HP I would have regenned during the time I was on my human monk and not at full HP it always bothered me. When Velious came out I vowed I would get rid of my human monk and reroll iksar. I figured that I'd be replacing a lot of gear anyways and the XP penalty has been reduced. Since then, I haven't looted 1 velious piece of gear on my human monk I knew if I was going to upgrade shit I'd want it to go to my re-rolled Iksar.

Currently I have a level 50+ iksar monk who has gotten some of his no drop items back - jboots/OT hammer. I'll probably never finish the sky quests again and really miss the 41% haste belt but I hope one day have some decent velious gear that would have replaced those kunark / sky pieces anyways.

I have no regrets and the regen is noticeable. If I ever wanted to min/max and work towards items like 10th Ring or Aura of Battle pieces it would kill me to know I could have had so much more regen/AC just from character select. But again, to each his own there are plenty of amazing human monks who are much better than me and much better than my iksar character. I'm just a bum so I need to take the small advantages where I can get them.

I'm a level 100 human monk with max AA's and I don't regret it at all.
