Default Returning Dilemma

Hey guys,

So recently I have returned to P99 to play with my girlfriend and sister. I am just having an issue that I wanted to know if there are any of you out there that have had to deal with before.

How many of you get on here, level a character to 40ish, have to stop playing for whatever reason only to return a year or two later and look at the names of your characters and ask yourself "What the hell was I thinking?" ? I have tried to suck it up but I am super obsessive level picky about my character names, in fact sometimes it takes me days to settle on a new character name. I have since learned not to name my characters after anything that could be related to a fad or phase that I may be going through. Something generic that relates to who I am as a person in the long term.

I truly envy those people that I watch create characters and spend mere seconds at the name prompt either clicking the random name button or typing random syllables that sound good together and clicking enter game without a second thought about it.

Basically, after long deliberation, I have decided to re-roll because it bothers me just that much. I would just like to hear from any of you on these forums who have done this before. How many of you have re-rolled a character over level 30 because of the name, stats or race? I would like to know as it would really help me with peace of mind. Thanks guys. Have a good time on P99.

Also, I really think it would be cool if there was some kind of system, like a vendor or something that sold a name change token for a decent amount of platinum that was only allowed to be used once per character as your character would then be flagged as having used the token. Maybe to take care of the ruin your reputation then change your name problem, maybe have an asterisk on their name for an agreed on amount of time where you can search their name on the Project 1999 website to see a list of recent name changes and what their previous names were. I think it would save people like myself who have never made an enemy on an online game ever a lot of time while also helping fix the platinum inflation issue. Anyway, just my humble opinion. Thanks guys. See you all in game.

I spent more time picking my character's name than I did playing the game. I have even not started characters because I just couldn't come up with a good name.
Takes me between 6 hours - a few days to find just the right name. Especially because many names are taken.

While I don't hate the idea of a way to change your characters name. People would abuse the heck out of it and do very bad things. Which would lead to more headache for the staff.

I rerolled a lvl 31 chanter because I didn't like his name and I wanted a high elf.

I also rerolled a 35 dwarf pally because his cha is such garbage lull never works and I put all my points into dex on him which I hated.

Oh, and I rerolled a 54 druid that was half elf.

I honestly don't care about the time invested in a toon because in the big picture we are just having fun burning time on a game anyway.

For me, nothing in the game is some grand feat of accomplishment, as I find enjoyment in exploring zones I never seen before just as much as I do getting some uber piece of loot.

It's just a matter of perspective really, what's important to each player on the game.

If you hate that name, just reroll the toon. If you hate the starting stats, just reroll the toon. If you hate the race, just reroll the toon.
