Trump did it so its bad and must be a cover up, despite all the left-wing media and all of Hillary supporters calling for his resignation weeks/months ago. GOP didn't like Comey involvement in the political race either. He refused to go after Hillary (e.g. wiping 30k emails) despite evidence that other people got prosecuted for far less.

Comey probably should have been fired for what he said in the lead-up to the election, but you're missing the point: Trump just fired one of the people directly responsible for investigating his campaign's ties with Russia at a time when the investigation seems to be hitting its stride.

Doesn't matter what side of the aisle you're on. It isn't about Comey's comments during the election even. It's about Trump trying to cut the head off of an investigation that's increasingly looking worse for him, as far as I'm concerned. Say what you want about the veracity of the investigation.. you don't fire someone who's in the middle of conducting a very public investigation against you without it looking like impropriety.
