The Baelish conclusion would have been fine if they didn't already do the same play in Season 6 as far as reversing the game on him goes. They should have continued building him up for the big fall and deleted the Season 6 finale scene.
The reason why the Baelish conclusion isn't good writing is because of a lot of different reasons, but transparency is the biggest one.
Anyway season 7, the dead screen time they spent on episodes 1-3, and the rapid progression of storyline would seem to signal that they aren't comfortable writing without source material. Not that they can't, but that they WILL NOT.
I believe D&D refused to find writers to write.
This season also confirms the spin-off shows and D&D's lack of involvement as a positive. Someone had mentioned that D&D are just bro-fans of the books and that they told GRRM R+L=whatever and GRRM gave them the job based on them being able to figure it out on their own from reading the books.
you hit the nail on the head. they were great at adapting the book to screen, but hell are they bad without book. they've had no idea what to do with Baelish since season 4 ended and it shows. I feel like they just care about the "surprise" reveal and give no shits about any of it making sense anymore. And I'm sorry, but there's no universe where Arya and Sansa out play Baelish at his own game. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

That is all.
Also dumb. Rhaegar marries Elia, they have 2 children named Rhaenys and Aegon. Rhaegar meets Lyanna at the tourney at Harrenhall, within 12 months Rhaegar then secretly annuls his marriage to Elia, absconds with Lyanna then travels roughly 2,000 miles south to the northern part of Dorne, then marries Lyanna. Then Rickard and Brandon Stark are killed by the Mad King, Robert's Rebellion breaks out, and Rhaegar believes he can kill Robert and end the war. So Rhaegar leaves preggo Lyanna at the Tower of Joy with Ser Arthur Dayne (literally the greatest fighter in the history of Westeros), and rides off to fight Robert. As you all know, Rhaegar dies. Then Tywin sacks the city, Robert & Ned arrive at KL, and the corpses of Rhaenys and Aegon are presented to Robert as proof of Tywin's loyalty. Robert is wounded at this point, and so Ned travels without him to lift the siege at Storm's End (rescuing Stannis), and then travels down to the Tower of Joy, has a 7 vs 3 mortal kombat with the King's Guard, runs inside the tower, and finds Lyanna lying in a bed of blood asking Ned to keep a promise. Lyanna was hidden away at the Tower of Joy, and since everyone knew Rhaegar was not there, there's no point to send a raven to the ToJ, furthermore, no one from Robert's side would have sent a raven to a supposed Targaryen held location with updates. And I'm suppose to believe that Lyanna said "fuck Elia, fuck baby Aegon, and fuck Rhaegar. I'm naming him Aegon cause I want to". I just don't buy it. I suspect they are going to merge some Young Griff story into Jon, or, they are just giving the finger to book readers on this one. In the book, I still expect his name to be Aemon for a few different reasons.

lol no. Sansa and Arya's fued was very real. there's a deleted scene of Sansa going to Bran and asking for help, and Bran taps into wierwood.net to tell her all of Baelish's fuckery. It had absolutely nothing to do with Sansa thinking for herself, and everything to do with Sansa having an omniscient demigod-like little brother. Arya and Sansa have never, ever been "tight" with each other.

Heard the Night King is going to be played by a new actor in Season 8. confirm?
doesn't matter, they've already replaced him once in the past, and still haven't replaced him more times than the actor(s) playing Gregor Clegane.

@Sirken

I've not read the entire book series however from what I have read and little tidbits online; Layanna and Rhaegar according to the books didn't have a child. And, Layanna died in the tower after suffering some type of wounds and catching a fever. What the hell am I missing?

Is the child (*Jon Snow) only introduced in the TV series, or do I need to read the books and save face?

its quickly just turning into lord of the rings. pretty good guys, ugly bad guys, good guys win with minor nerds killed off, and the world is safe. I understand that they no longer have book material to go off of, but i mean fuck. if they understood the books at all, they'd understand that one of the greatest things about GoT was it smashing all the genre's tropes, and now the show-runners are just following RandomHollywoodScript_01
Yeah, the amount of plot armor lately has been frustrating. Characters miraculously survive situations over and over and over again. Overall I think the worst example of that is Arya, I can't count the number of times she should've died. You just have to kinda accept the fact that it's basically LoTR at this point and enjoy the show knowing that it's unlikely the books (should they ever come out) will follow.

I'm satisfied... I try to remember this is just a TV show, that has been trying to wrap itself up. It can't possibly go into everything I would like it to. The only thing I'm really mad about is having to wait 2 years to see the ending.

I didn't know if any of the books mentioned Lyanna and her birth, but I was just corrected by someone who knows.

I do find it silly that it's mentioned that Arya and Sansa wouldn't out wit Baelish. The truth is in the books Sansa was in the Vale for a long time and Arya was still training in Bravos. The TV series does expand with the sisters and Little Finger meets his end with a pretty good story that expands nicely past the books. After all the 2 sisters have learned throughout their journeys, it makes complete sense that they would use womanly deception to out play Little Finger. Kind of an irony if you think about it.
