Unlimited Rusty 2handed Swords

Hey guys,

Interesting thing I found the other day. There is a merchant in East Freeport that has an unlimited supply of Rusty 2-Handed Swords. Just a few gold per sword and your pet can be rockin! Obviously it really only matters for lower levels but still.

Discovering stuff like this is one of the things I love about EverQuest!

I may or may not have bought a shiny brass halberd with the intent on giving it to my lvl 12 pet when i get there. plus im not above begging summoned weapons form mages. So i say yes to better than rustys.

I once gave a weapon to a level 9-10 SK way back on this servers timeline in Nektulos.

Instead of equipping it himself he put it on his Lvl 9 SK pet. Can't remember what it was now but it was better than the rusty thing he was holding. I don't think he realized he wasn't getting it back if the pet died!

On Live many years ago, I used to especially love loading up my necro pets with Gnoll Hide Lariats, but when pets could be retained, I went for an Iksar Berserker Club for the guy, and it was only a matter of time before I'd see one...

I didn't have the patience to reclaim pets until he was named "Boner," so it was something a little more generic, but oh did he pack a wallop!

sounds like a good way to get smithing to 11 or whatever by sharpening the rustys!

Torches to force DW (if the pet is capable of DW, of course). The cost is like 10sp per.

I didn't find this effective on low level pets at all. Much more effective to give em a shantok.

There is a 25 DMG 2 hander that drops / rots in Wakening Lands. Giant prospector's pick or something.

It's really good until your pet is level 25. Level 25 pets don't seem interested in wielding two handed weapons. I guess 25+ pets want lanterns, musical instruments and so on.

you can also disarm lucan and fd and he always drops a rusty 1hander.

you can literally swim in platinum and disarm lucan forever but people just have to kill him for some reason.
