![]() hi all im new to p99 i havent gotten anything very high on the game.
i am wanting to know how all the classes rank in order of best to worst. in regards to what im looking for in a class/playstyle. casual. im looking for survivability, possibly soloability or atleast groupability with my wife being a mage. thinking but not 100% of possibly a melee class sk pal ranger monk ect. something strong that isnt going to be super squish. not sure if sk or other classes get heals that can sustain them without a proper healer or not. also depending on what i choose does having low starting stats matter like gnomes humans erudite elves usually have lower str and or stamina in the begining. id rather not have to play troll or ogre as they are not what a girl desires to look like lol. Please leave your comments and info here any advice is welcomed. my goal is to group level and possibly be a casual raider end game someday but not in a rush for raids. my current goal is to have fun be able to progress in the game without feeling like im not getting anywhere or like im too weak to do anything.

![]() If you are planning to duo a lot, then a melee isn't a great partner for a mage. Sure, some melees do have healing abilities, but that still would result in major downtimes if the melee isn't twinked very much.
So, what's a good partner for a mage? Surprisingly another mage would be great. Or if you want to shake things up, a necro. Or if you feel that you can handle it, an enchanter (beware: enchanter can get increbidbly powerfull, but in the hands of a beginner you will die horribly and often). Druid can also be nice, but unless the druid charms (which can be risky) your DPS will be lower. My advice would be for you to take a mage as well. 2 mages can handle a lot. And even later in the game, when you need to chain summon, the second mage will make that practically risk free since aggro will always stay on one pet at least. With 2 mages you also wont get any pet xp penalty, that's only a solo thing.

![]() SK doesn't get any heals (just an infrequent 30pt heal). Paladins do, though, if you want to tank things. Necros do get little heals, and mana transfer, and a pet, and it's just different, so I would choose that over another Mage, personally. I also thought about Druid. None of those can tank, really, so you will pet tank or kite.
Honestly I would probably give Shaman a try first.

![]() Just roll shaman and let your wife be mage. As shaman you can easily keep her pets healed, you slow mobs, you can melee... It's the perfect combo.

![]() Actually i forgot about shaman, i have to agree it would make a nice combo. And the shaman pet isnt that bad either.
Still i stand by my advice to get another mage. You will kill things faster than with a shaman. And while shaman can help your pet stay healthy, that's not really needed, just summon a new one.

![]() Ok, so you want to melee, right? And you're gonna group most of the time. But you will be duoing sometimes. There is an alright, but pretty annoying way to do that with a mage.
It's called jousting. So you'll probably want a 2 hander for it, but it's pretty easy with a pet tanking. You simply wait for the mob to swing at the pet, then go in and hit attack on/attack off. The pet will never have agro over you if you are in combat range, but if you use this technique, you'll rarely get hit once you get good at it. And then you let the mage pet die and you have agro while mage re-summons pet. I actually have a decent 2 hander on my lowbie mage because the dps beats medding/nuking right now. So, you need a cheap 2 hander since you are new. The best options for that are Pal/Monk. They both have 30/40, 23/28 for 100p, or free if you talk to me...just message me on here. Oh ya, but SK might be good because you can fear kite...I find fear kiting on a melee sucks, but jousting isn't all that fun either, heh. Anyways, there's some ideas.

![]() Great duo with mage = Enchanter, Necro, Mage, Shaman
Correct duo with mage = Druid, Wizard Kinda-Doable duo with mage = Cleric, Bard, Ranger, SK, Paladin Not really a good duo with mage = Warrior, Monk Worst duo with a mage award = Rogue

![]() Lance and Nagoya both gave good answers to your question of what would be good with a mage. As far as the other concerns go, It can take several months of dedication to reach the endgame in this. much more of a leveling marathon then most modern mmos. Join up with Dawn Belivers or Kittens who say Mew both are social, casual friendly, and also do some raiding at high lvl.
