Hey all!

Newbie question here as I can't quite remember...

WoW has ruined me when playing MMO's... I remember enjoying EQ much more than I enjoyed WoW, but is there an easy way to tell if there are quests for me to do at my level? I know that there are no "Hey Over Here!" Yellow exclaimation marks to indicate a certain npc is offering a quest.

I'm assuming 98-99% of my earned exp will come from grinding/camps, but didn't know how people know of certain quests they can do instead? Do you just have to do your research on allakhazam/wiki's etc? Also, no quest log right? Other than your own pen & paper?

Thanks for the help all! Can't wait to get off work to hop back on! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

EQ is a good game, but it's not perfect. It could be improved indefinitely just like any other game. Some people like certain gameplays more than others, but the features themselves that exist in the game can almost always be made better in the same way that graphics can be bettered.

Yes, you pretty much have to look on allah or have a guide or have a friend to know which quest is worth doing and it's also needed to finish certain portions that're not well explained in the game.

You can sometimes find good quests on your own by talking to non-players. It's not impossible. But if there is one thing I would improve in EQ it would be how quests are delivered and how players solve them. I don't like all of the hand-holding in modern games, but some extra information would be appropriate if it's in context and not too obtrusive. I should not have to look on allah or have a walkthrough (even) or walk from one side of norrath to the other in order to find leads and information. There should be more clues and effort put into making quests more meaty and loved.

Nonetheless, some fun can be had doing the quests. Just don't get mad when you're told to recover an item in the sewers and you have no idea where to find the bad guy that has it. He could be a rare named that pops on a rat spawn, so you'd need to kill all the rats in the zone. He could be in a hole at the bottom of the zone next to a high level that you need the right faction to pass by. He could be invisible. All of this might sound interesting, but try camping all the rats in a zone to get a named to spawn. It's not very inspiring.

If you go into this using allah it won't be as painful, but it's boring knowing the answers.
