Default Anxious to Join the server! (New Player)

Hey Everyone,

I played EQ from its launch up until Luclin. I was a level 49 Paladin. Absolutely loved it. I was in a guild called <Fearless Crusaders> if that rings any bells. I'm a 23yr old college student currently at LSU.

I stumbled across this site after watching a youtube video and reading some of the comments.

Since it's going to be a few hours for the downloads, I just had a few questions.

I noticed there's not alot of tanks, so I was debating rolling a Warrior. (Maintanked alot in EQ1, WoW, and EQ2)

Also, how are the guilds? Ventrillos, etc?

Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated.

The percentage of tanks compared to the rest of the classes are alittle lower. Plus, it can be difficult at times to find a tank. A warrior would be good, but has been questioned whether or not they are the best tanks.

The guilds vary, there are the good ones, and the bad ones... The ones with the douche reputations (like any server) and the ones that are neutral. As far as Ventrilo I'm sure some guilds use it.

Glad to see more people joining the server [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If you intend to play into Kunark / post 50, Warrior is a good call.

Warriors were a little on the weak side in classic IMO, but were made the clear tanks for Kunark/Velious.

On the other hand, you'll certainly have an easier time soloing as a Paladin or SK.

Now that I have decent weapons I have pulled raid mobs off level 50 SK's and Pally's at level 47. Not often, but I have, and that is without using taunt, fighting reds. (Using a yak + amgy tendril)

I think at 50 with the right weapons, or if you have the right weapons at lower levels, it can be fairly easy to tank as a warrior. (Once I got my hands on some obs shards around 25 I was fine tanking till I hit my 40's and needed something a little stronger.)

All tanks are still welcome additions and much needed. (As long as you're not labelling rangers as tanks.)

I'll hit the highlights of the major guilds:

Inglourious Basterds: the premier guild on the server, gobbling up 10 year old content as fast as they can. They've gotten a reputation as lifeless d-bags, but my interactions with all of them have been good. I guess when you're at the top people wanna take shots at you.

Transcendence: Once rivaled IB, but people are abandoning as quickly. Widely perceived as whiners and cheaters (seems accurate to me).

Divinity: Taking Transcendence's spot as the #2 guild. They have a lot of high levels and a good reputation.

Gothic Circle: Our server's zerg guild. They'll recruit any noob fresh off the character selection screen.

Europa: Foreigners. Some good people. Some bad apples. That's how foreigners are though.

Fish Bait: Trans people seem to be flocking to Fish Bait. Could be a good raid guild to rival IB and Divinity. Word on the street is that their leadership is trying to app IB though, so we'll see.

In Virtue: Krimz's guild. Enough said.

All other guilds are hardly worth a mention as they're small guilds generally reserved for casual players.

Spitting soda is far better than the usual diarrhea that comes from your mouth. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Transcendence has made some minor changes in leadership and is currently adjusting to them. We have adapted a higher standard of integrity and demand this to be reflected in each of our members. This is a great time for anyone looking to be a part of a close-knit raiding team to talk to our recruitment officer (Glitterati) and discuss what we are really about.
..I'll choose to take that as a compliment.

If you want a new rep, start a new guild. <Transcendece> is garbage.

Are most of the organized guilds level requirements to join? Or is it pretty open?
