true, but we'd be pretty set as a basis for any group
As acknowledged. I won't argue that with you.

I'm betting you'll find it to be a fairly vanilla duo. If you're intending to play with more than just the two of you most of the time, then by all means.

we're in no hurry, it's not like we have to hit 50 before the next expansion pack [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

and we just like chatting and hanging out in our vent server arguing about whatever nonsense

There has been a wave of these sort of threads recently (which is a very good thing, mind you) and I always reply the same way:

Play what you will enjoy the most.

If you are in it for the long haul to level 50, you'll be spending a long, long time staring at the same user interface and spell gems/skill buttons. Play what you think will have the best play-style that suits you. Also, don't be afraid to try different classes. Don't worry about what classes are over-populated or what someone tells you to play. Follow your gut and make that Shadowknight!

If you don't enjoy your class, it's going to be a miserable experience here on P99.

I'm the type of person who's an alt-aholic
I'll have a warrior and an SK and by the end of it I'll have a monk an cleric I'd imagine

warrior and SK both are up my alley, though if I can level a warrior with people that'd probably be my favorite [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I enjoy playing in groups, it's not the play-style that matters so much as experience

I have to agree with Trimm.. Play a class that you WANT to play and don't worry about which is best for grouping or which is best for rushing to 50.. Enjoy the ride... Take your time and have fun! In EQ Live, I always played an Enchanter and monk. I love the play style and difficulty of these classes and so I keep playing them.. I tried others but never enjoyed them personally as much. So, here I am on a new server and I am playing an enchanter and most certainly will roll up a monk. I've thought about trying something else again but I am going with my gut and you should too! I say go for the SK in Qeynos! I moved my Erudite Enchanter there and hope to see you around (once I address my packet loss issue).. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I love both the SK and warrior class from experience, it's a matter of which I play first [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
I played a paladin in kuanark, then a monk, they both were fun but I ended up not really enjoying the roles and I didn't get good as a pally tank/want to.
I played an SK the last session and I liked it but it was underwhelming, can't really put my finger on why. Enjoyable, just not quite what I wanted.

I really like being able to dual wield and something about the pure melee tank tickles my fancy.

Never played an SK, but I do remember feeling very underwhelmed with Paladin spells until around 50.

Also, in order for me to do any more spellcasting than the occasional stun for aggro, I absolutely had to have clarity/bardsong going. Well, until I got my flowing thought up, anyway. I think the hybrid classes are more dependent on mana regen than people realize, given that they so seldom sit to med (at least, in a good group).

Bet my guildmates hated me for taking melee, tank, and caster gear. Ah well.
