Also seconding what AbstractVision said - you might want to avoid warrior for your first character on the green server for exactly those reasons. Druid, wizard, cleric, or mage are generally my first character choice recommendations. Druids had a ton of utility (things that will make your life less of a hassle in EQ) and fill a lot of roles, can solo or group. Clerics are very welcome in groups and well liked generally though harder to solo. A pretty straightforward class with interesting things to do, though less utility than the others. Wizards and mages are straightforward caster classes with respective utility, can solo but also fine in groups.
