I believe Peter says something along the lines of while the disciples may be Jewish, no Jew except the Christ was ever a perfect Jew, so the idea that you would hold Rabbibical Law over the head of gentile-Christian is absurd.

Why is the concept of Christ > jew law so hard to comprehend. Christ specifically opposed legalistic jewish orthodoxy who had removed God from their system of governence yet here you are trying to put Christendom in the same godless pit.

Its pretty hard to convert someone when part of the deal is getting cut on your manhood. That is why they left it out. Especially because the Greeks would go the to gym and work out in the nude. They figured baptism would be a suitable replacement for circumcision, because the latter just wasn't desirable by already grown men, and could expose one to persecution.
