You're right... sweaty nerds with the steely neckbeard willpower to camp something for 72+ hours would totally find having to make a new account to camp another completely prohibitive, and that would stop them cold in their tracks.

Yes, that would slow them down significantly, having to make a new 35th level character for every manastone they wanted. These items should be lore at the very least.
