This is for hardcore book nerds only, not casual show scum. When the world was young, Sirken had an epic GOT thread in which he was a bit of a GRRM apologist and claimed that some email proved that the house with the red door was in Bravos. This is impossible because Bravos has a climate similar to London, and the Danny remembers a lemon tree outside her window, which indicates a warmer climate.

Preston found an Asimov magazine which published a preview of the first Game of Thrones novel in which Martin writes that the house with the red door was in Tyrosh. This makes sense if you look at Bravos and Tyrosh on the interactive GoT map:

https://quartermaester.info/

Bravos is nearly as far north as White Harbor, the southernmost major city of the North in Westeros. Tyrosh is almost as far south as Sunspear, the southernmost major city in Westeros.

What Preston's video shows is that, just before the publication of the first novel, Martin was saying that Dany grew up in Tyrosh. It was only changed to Bravos during the editing process just before publication.

The linked video (props to Sirken for introducing all of us to Preston Jacobs' YouTube channel)

Show is trash and rightfully (and thankfully) destroyed Dave and Dan's careers. This has nothing to do with the book series, which remains one of the top three fantasy novel series of all time. No, Martin will never finish it. Wheel of Time didn't get finished either, but remains a top three series with ASOIAF and LOTR. Interestingly, only Wheel of Time still has the opportunity to see a faithful reproduction on film as it's been optioned by Amazon.
