Server is exquisite, no doubt.

I think people genuinely enjoy some of the non-classic changes, no doubt.

I also think people get boggled about classic v unclassic. Forums are an avenue for people to discuss.

This isn't a thread about quest exp specifically - just a related idea.

cd28, I'm on vacation. I haven't had to go into an office (that wasn't a client's) for 10+ years.

Fooljin, I haven't seen any of your guys anywhere, so I don't know where you've been seeing me [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Ok, now back on topic. Favorite #ButClassic.

In case it wasn't clear, the derailment is intentional.

Look, we're all playing a game with no quest XP. We all, every single day, see the contradiction between that, and a decade of R&N quotes (not to mention the graphic in the upper-left corner here).

What I'm saying is, at this exact moment when we're all smarting from classic EQ being deprioritized ... it doesn't do anyone any good to keep harping on it. Yes, there's some hypocrisy now; before when people used to bitch about the unclassic bits here, I'd refer them to http://wiki.project1999.com/Non-Classic%20Compendium, and explain how the staff couldn't help but make that bit unclassic. Now I can't.

We can't change that fact. But we can stop going around and around in circles about it. The devs will fix priority #2 (classic EQ) after they fix priority #1 (whatever mattered more to them than classic EQ). That day will come ... and until then I don't see the value in dwelling on and publically lamenting it.

My bread quest video from blue really made it explode to where they had to change it even beyond classic nerfs. People found ways to get from 14-60 in a day when the pulling to zone thing happened nobody did that in classic lol

This is the biggest unclassic thing to me.

It’s the mentality of the player base. We’ve gone from a player base of ‘I’m going on an adventure!’ Bilbos to a bunch of Saurons intent on domination.

On live the highpass orcs and gnolls were a popular place to level. In Lake of Ill Omen you’d get teenage iksar mixing with fresh off boat young elves on the beaches and at the fort. Here it is just level 50 pet casters farming clickies.

It’s a race to the top to horde pixels which misses out on adventure.

Fun fact, the reason LOIO was so popular back in the day was that for quite a long time it mistakenly had a ZEM of 100 when the only other zones to have that were Kedge and maybe some city zones. IE, it was an outdoor zone with a 33% xp bonus, unique in EQ.

People kept going there even after it was nerfed to 75, and then much later nerfed again down to 60.

(Historical details are in my big ZEM thread in the bug forums)

This wasn’t why it was popular though. It’s a phenomenal leveling zone with tons of content and close by FV for binding, banking, and vendoring for the good races.

Amen Brother! Preach it to all these cheap-assed semi-employed 40-something nerdboys making this awesome free server 1000x shittier than it needs to be!

...does anyone else remember tradeskill bags eating everything in them if you accidentally hit "combine" when full of non-tradeskill stuff or just the wrong items for a recipe? I'm about 50% sure I did that with a jeweler's kit back in early live. If I'm remembering correctly, I'm really happy that's not a thing here.

Also, I remember accidentally hitting 'a' on live my first time playing since I didn't hit enter before trying to talk to an NPC in erudin and getting destroyed. That's probably just a client thing, but I don't miss that kind of thing at all.

Yes, TS containers eat everything inside when you click combine. After that it checks if it's going to make something or not.

Yes, 'a' is still default auto attack. I never grew out of it so I left it 'a' [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
