Finally got to test this and Bereavement looks to be lasting 3 server ticks (which is 4 "damage taken" messages), the very same length as other bard DoTs. Tried it both with and without lute to see if it somehow affected it, but had no difference in DoT length.
It does stun mobs, which I'm not sure is correct. At least on live it doesn't appear to stun mobs anymore (some reports state that it still stuns in PvP), but the removal of stun could have been changed anytime between Kunark and present. This probably warrants some more research.

Selo's Chords of Cessation lasts for only 3 damage taken messages, and the link says that Denon's Bereavement should too, so (a) clearly it's not that strange and (b) there's evidence for it.

Ah, but Selo's Chords of Cessation is special in that it only lasts 2 server ticks (3 damage messages), shorter than our other DoTs. Denon's Bereavement is a normal length DoT at 3 server ticks (4 damage messages).
For Bereavement to be only 3 damage messages, it would mean all our other normal length DoTs (chants, etc) would also only be 3 damage messages (the site you linked calculates DoT damage with this assumption; see chant spell listings). This would be a pretty big change - and if we go down that road, it would probably be a good idea to find another source that corroborates it first. There are too many sites out there with bad bard info for me to trust any single one alone.
