Desantis said no to the unemployment expansion because florida simply doesnt need it lol.. So not only is it impossible to get unemployment, by his own admission, but now the money the federal government wants you to have, hes keeping it from the people who need it most. His admin then sued the federal government saying "if we cant give this money away to rich people in the form of tax cuts, we shouldnt be able to receive it". Basically saying that once the federal government gives the state money, even if its earmarked by congress for something else, he wants to be able to give it away in tax breaks to his friends/donors. Thats illegal, so he decided to just outright deny it for everyone.

Not paying the government taxes is the rich mans dole. Thats how they get money every month from the government, by not paying it in. Then pretend its such a huge problem when people get money from the government, which they fight tooth and nail to not pay.

Its ok to give it away to his friends.
Its not OK to give to a single mom who needs to buy groceries.

You could do both? Its not like they paid into the system under the promise from the state which was enshrined in law, that they would be covered by unemployment if they lost their job and it wasnt their fault. I mean, its not like they did that, for YEARS. Right? lol

I live in FL. I know no precautions were taken. I know they put up a covid testing place for 3 days. It was packed with cars, all day every day, then they closed it down. No rhyme, no reason. Just closed it down. It happened to be in an area of town that a lot of black people lived in. All the sudden, the rich area gets 2 new ones. Amazing. So now you gotta drive into a gated community, which wont let you in, to get your test. Amazing.

I think unemployment and disability are bad ideas. Iranians are the least assimilated in countries with generous welfare like Sweden and Denmark, and the most assimilated in Australia and the US where welfare doesn’t give you enough to get by. I think there are instructive lessons there. I could be wrong though. But yeah, UBI is one thing. Paying ahitheads to not work at a time of massive protests and rioting? Doesn’t make sense to me.
