Even if you could connect, you would have so many lag issues its not funny. Satellite internet has a very high latency (a round trip ping takes 1000-1400ms)

I've grouped with someone in the past who was running on sat internet. He had ok playability as long as there was not to much going on. Worse was when he would disconnect because the generator ran out of gas.
edit in: that was on live, not this server.

I tried playing EQ on what is now known as Hughesnet back during PoP-era and it was horrid. I could connect and log into the game just fine, but basically you have a 5ish second delay between *everything* you do. It was not playable because of that.
I'm sure it's gotten better since then, but the biggest downfall was the upload time giving the delay. They had a system in which you could use a phoneline (dialup) for upload and then use the satellite strictly for download that supposedly made it better, however I never tried it. On top of that, Satellite internet is (was?) terribly overpriced. Sign a contract, pay an outrageous disconnect fee, etc.

So then does anyone have any ideas on an ISP I can use? I'm up in the mountains in Northern Cali, about 25 miles from the nearest town. Comcast (My old ISP) does not provide service out here. So any ideas on a connection that will let me play with you all again?
