Maybe they aren't as similar as they seem.
Not to mention we have homeland security watching us too close now to take over

Sorta, that was the neocons. Trump the paleocon firmly wrested control of the party from them and banished them to the wilderness. Their only outlet is posting snark on the lincoln project twitter and sucking Biden dick on thebulwark.com anymore.

I hated it then when they started it, I've hated it all along, and I hate it now when the present folks in charge refuse to end it. By maintaining it, every administration since has become part of the problem too. I know exceedingly few people who actually approve. I regard it as more of one of many examples of how the federal government is largely beyond the control of the general populace.

We shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
No, we had good reason to go there. The mistake was staying without an effective plan in place. Occupations of fanatical populations CAN work--look at the occupation of Japan--but require good plans implemented fully. Half-measures won't get it done and this particular occupation was never going to succeed.

If the goal was to keep Afghanistan semi peaceful, we had a plan, it was to keep less than 5,000 troops in Afghanistan to keep the peace and keep the territory out of enemy hands.

We shouldn't have occupied it at all after Bin Laden left and certainly not after he died. The cultures of that area of the world are centuries behind The West. It's drop dead funny to see woke folks defending a culture that is so far to the right. The Democrats and the left continue to be exposed as complete frauds.

Centuries from now the west as it is currently could be seen as backwards and barbaric, it certainly was from the perspective of its natives centuries ago. That isn't to say that other parts of the world are exempt from criticism though. But there is something strangely amusing about fans of a game world decades behind the today's standard arguing about fanatics in the real world centuries behind today's standard.

You’re going to have to make a better argument.

We’re talking about a culture that condones rape of boys and girls. A culture that kills homosexuals. A culture that denies women all sorts of basic rights.

America has a lot of mixed up ideas right now but we are still the most free and accepting society on earth. People aren’t trying to move to Iran/Pakistan/Afghanistan.

The fear isn’t the Taliban being more powerful, the fear is the power vacuum that was created. Now who fills it? Not our allies.
