Lore: The Rivervale Holy War, September 12-13, 2021.

Much like IRL, wars are always happening without much global attention. People live out their lives and never think twice about those lands far away, and sometimes, even closer to home than we realize.

This is the story of the Rivervale Holy War. Let the slaughtering of the halflings that occurred on that fateful night not be lost in time.

All of the dialogue (outside of the narration) captured below comes from a log left on overnight. Was it a dream? Perhaps. But if so, where did all the dead bodies come from.



Rivervale is known as a mostly happy place. Many a halfling just going about their business without the world noticing. While their town is open to the public, most visitors only ever see the bank and stay out of the way. Most don't know what's actually going on behind closed doors, and even, right before their very eyes.

One thing was always out of place, a single necromancer by the name of Randytrevor.
Randytrevor was well known - he was larger than life. So much stronger than those of the halflings, some even saw him as a god. Legend says that once, even Randytrevor was happy. Did he murder the majority of the halfling military force? Sure!!! but he was still beloved by the people, handing out shields and weapons to the young whippersnappers in the area ready for new adventures.

Until one day...that stopped. Randytrevor stopped. Seemingly frozen in time, pet summoned, laying on the ground. Now, this had happened before, sometimes Randy would just take some snoozes, and be back about his business in a few hours. But not this time. This time was different. Days, even Weeks went by - Randy had not moved. People began to worry, Rumors began to spread.

The great citizens of Rivervale decided they would try to help. A small gathering of friends, a small offering of goods might bring Randy back from being frozen in time. So they put the call out, and dag nabbit those little halflings answered it. From Randeetrevor, Randalltrevor, Gandytrevor, to even Handytrevor, Mandytrevor and Candytrevor!...All of them answered the call that night. The call to bring life back into their leader, and god, Randytrevor They had good intentions, but they were naïve to their power. They just wanted to make sure he was OK! He had been there for days, weeks, months even!

So gathered they did, forming a circle and offering their foraged goods and offering praise.

Randitrevor says, 'welcome brother'
Randalltrevor says, 'Hail, Brothers and Sisters!'

And on they went, welcoming brothers and sisters to the group, sacrificing those sweet, sweet foraged vegetables, rabbit meat, and fish grubs. Hours went by, and the gathering grew. More and more followers, identities shrouded by their Randy names.

Until...

Randytrevor says, '*ahem*'

It had worked! Their god, their savior, their friend! They were so worried, and now - Now, he had finally stood for the first time, and he spoke:

Randytrevor says, 'guys'
Randytrevor says, 'nice ritual you got here'
Randalltrevor says, 'HE HAS RISEN!!!!!'
Randitrevor says, 'he is risen!'
Randistrevor says, '!!!!'
Randistrevor says, 'NO WAYYYY'
Randitrevor shouts, 'A spiritual revolution is coming....'
Medyx shouts, 'OMG!!!'
Medyx kneels before Randytrevor in humility and reverence.

Almost immediately, Randytrevor returned to his rooted and started handing out weapons just like before!

Randytrevor has offered Randalltrevor a Spear.
Randalltrevor says, 'Oh thank You, I shall spear the greatest of enemies!'
Randytrevor says, 'damn right you will'
Randalltrevor says, 'Actually, NM, I'm a Druid.'

You see, his followers had not trained for battle, in fact, many could not even equip the spears they were given. They had no idea what they had done. They had no idea of their consequences.

Randistrevor says, 'thank You for spear'
Randistrevor thanks Randytrevor heartily.

Randytrevor's spell fizzles!
Randytrevor says, 'tell the others what you saw'
Randytrevor begins to cast a spell.
Randytrevor dies.

And with that, he was gone again - lifeless. What had he fizzled?! What was supposed to be?!
The halflings didn't think much of it, and began playing with the weapons they were given.

Until...

Randistrevor says, 'i challenge Randalltrevor to duel for spot of true randy trevor'
Randistrevor says, 'accept this duel. our battle will be legendary'
Randistrevor has challenged Randalltrevor to duel to the death!

Oh no, a duel..to the death?! but why?!

Randalltrevor tries to punch Randistrevor, but miss!
Randistrevor pierces Randalltrevor for 5 points of damage.

The others were shocked! How had this peaceful group turned violent so fast. They quickly tried to bring the group back to it's roots.

Rondatrevor says, 'Tayshauntrevor... join us!'
Tayshaun says out of character, 'yall come to RV if u can.. theres like a saiance going on'
Tayshaun says, 'pay me first. 100p each. '

First violence, then greed...

Rondatrevor says, 'ah yes we have consorts'
Medyx says, 'omg, they're making sacrifices now'
Medyx says, 'this cult is getting nuts'
Rondatrevor says, 'Join us Moonsingertrevor'
Moonsinger says, 'beautiful, I got some pictures. ty'
Tayshaun says, 'we famous! pose for pics! '
Randistrevor says, '=3'

Then, Fame. The trifecta...

Mahae says, 'wow, randy had a family in RV'
Olanu says, 'Vigil?'
Rondatrevor says, 'No. Prayer.'
Olanu says, 'I do not pray. Karana protects me.'
Rondatrevor says, 'Kanara will know the full might of our Savior Randytrevor'

The good intentions were gone. Violence, Greed, and Fame had taken over.

Pohj says, 'Is this like a faerie circle where we get jumped on if we go in it?'
Pohj says, 'Its concerning there are corpses in the middle'

Run Pohj, Run.

Pastarr ponders Randytrevor. What is going on with him?
Pastarr looks at Randytrevor curiously.
Lawlabye says, '...'
Lawlabye says, 'probably one of the dumbest things ive ever seen'

Lawlabye wasn't wrong. Perfectly good individuals turned into soliders for a Holy War...That is Dumb.
The night continued...

Trevorsrandy shouts, 'Glory to Randytrevor. May the Kool-aide taste of justice when we all drink'
Brandytrevor says, 'Welcome'
Randiestrevor says, 'Hail, Randytrevor'

Randiestrevor nods at Raandytreevor.
Brandytrevor welcomes Raandytreevor warmly.
Raandytreevor thanks Brandytrevor for the warm welcome.
Raandytreevor says, 'peace be with Randalltrevor'
Mandytrevor says, 'arise Randy, arise'
Benaddor says, 'is he ok?'
Brandytrevor says, 'Arise!'
Elementage says, 'oh what is this?'
Raandytreevor says, 'ARISE TREVOR... TREVOR ARISE'
Benaddor's feet leave the ground.
Benaddor says, 'don't want to tread on sacred ground :0'
Raandytreevor says, 'one of us... one of us'
Coreytrevor says, 'Hail, Randytrevor'
Naeila says, 'o wow'
Naeila says, 'its growing'
Brandytrevor says, 'we must turn in our books'
Brandytrevor says, 'follow the ways of the discord'

And vulnerable they became...and the in-fighting grew even stronger.

Raandytreevor says, 'watch out! hes got a knife'

The rest of the community couldn't believe what was happening in a once peaceful town...

Fingerfist says, 'i think i hit the wrong strain before loggin in, cuz... i might be seeing things'

Once leader of hundreds of druids across Norrath, Ayleth realises what the world had become...
Ayleth says, 'It's finally started'
Ayleth says, 'So THS is where all the Dialers are'

He granted them all movement speed, and asked...
Ayleth says, 'When is the guild starting?'

He was too late...Even Ayleth couldn't save them now.

Odiy says, 'shhhhhhhh'
Odiy says, 'do Randalltrevor hear that?'
Odiy says, 'thoes are the crys of the carrots....'

Could it be? Could the foraged offerings be awoken? were they...tainted?
Glug, glug, glug... Randiestrevor takes a drink from a Jumjum Juice.
Chomp, chomp, chomp... Vimer takes a bite from a Rabbit Meat.

Stop eating little halflings, stop eating!!!



The savagery continued...

Randy HAD killed a LOT of guards...was this his punishment?

Herbalremedy lowers his head and mourns the loss of Randytrevor.
Mrtankypants lowers his head and mourns the loss of Randalltrevor.
Dandyrandy stands on his tip-toes and does a dance of joy!
Utell says, 'religious fanatics'
Utell begins to cast a spell.
Utell fades away.
Randiitrevor raises an eyebrow at Boardingpass.
Randiitrevor bows before Randytrevor.
Notstalria says, 'WTF?'

It was no use....

Time ticked on, as Randytrevor seemingly lied on the ground sweating, shivering...
Suddenly, harsh enemies began to show up, and a war had begun

Enter to the battle is Sephirosdr, The Hound Master.
Sephirosdr is a true savage and one of the Rallos top Generals.
You see, Until now, only the troublemakers of the group (flagged for PVP) had been murdered by Rallos's army, But Sephirosdr doesn't play by the rules.

While loading their home locations, the halflings were confused. They were almost...happy that they had died. It was over, the nightmare was over. Things had gotten out of hand. Let us return to normal they thought. Pray that it was all a dream.

It was not over.

Enter Home Location: Misty Thicket
Immediately after returning to their home points, they realized this was no dream.
The Hound Master was already ahead of them, Black Wolves everywhere just waiting for them at their previously safe bind locations.

Hours upon hours through the morning, a death loop for all of the followers of the once adored Randytrevor. An inescapable hell. Once fun loving halflings, simply worried about a man laying about in his own nightmares, were now in their very own.

Days later the corpses can still be seen strung about Rivervale and into the Misty Thicket. The remnants of the war remind the travelers of what once was.

Randytrevor still slumbers in Rivervale, with tens of his followers corpses surrounding him, seemingly unphased by the events that unfolded.

Is this hell what Randytrevor lives with in his coma day in and day out? and Is it caused by the souls of the guards he has murdered over time as foreshadowed by Makeda?

Waking him again to ask would be too dangerous to find out...
