I remember supposedly when pvp leaderboards were around when I was playing on SZ Wizards would just run up and manaburn one shot someone and then go hide in a corner somewhere until it came back and repeat. I think necros had a version called lifeburn too and did a similar thing

On p99 Mages have been hit especially hard. Epic near impossible to get then they nerfed the damage on the epic. Then they nerfed the melee damage on the lvl 57, 58, 59, 60 mage pets. They have also messed with aggro on pets where chain casting pets will not instantly rip aggro from the mage if they haven't touched the mob. Pet window changes/gone for a time. Recharge changes to root nets really hurt mage solo ability as well. I am sure I am missing some other changes that screwed mages since I started on P99.

If you want to complain about mage pets, don’t forget how the pet will sometimes hold aggro until another player walks into range and then the mob will bee line to the pet owner. It wasn’t always like that, was it? Certainly not on live?

They also removed the agro clear from CoTH, unless you are a zillion miles away.

@jimjam no it was never like that before

P99 devs butt-fucked mages with a lead pipe rolled in sandpaper.

Bard AE mob cap limit.

I got this nerfed because I used MQ2 cheats to warp to every mob in the zone and aggro them then run underwater with a /circle command to run in a perfect circle while automatically switching instruments and songs. It basically looked like the entire zone was broken because no mobs existed and no one knew I was in the corner of the zone underwater. Leveled Bard accounts 1-60 in a couple days fully automated and sold them.

Some cheat website paid me to write an article on it and the exact day the article came out it was posted on the SOE forums and nerfed the next day. Makes me proud.

Thank you all so much for the info. Gonna credit everyone here. Pulling out some nerfs from OLD OLD school EQ. Never heard that shm & necro could regular charm or how crazy pets used to be.

  • Red Wood Wand given a cast time and cannot be recharged
  • Quest exp turned off for 30 days
  • Norrath ruined by overzealous renegade GMs who want to make their own version of EQ under the guise of "classic" or w/e
