I was just mentioning this to my folks…if I was a Dem politician, I really would publicly invite some migrants to live at one of my summer homes

Think about it, it would be sort of a political gotcha right back at the GOP, since their angle is that even Dems don’t want these people. And it wouldn’t even have to be for any significant length of time. Could just pay to have them moved to some apartments 6 months later and no one is going to be checking or noticing or caring at that point

But prior to that, it would be easy PR for you and your party and a mini-FU to the GOP

I think the fact they still won’t do it really speaks to their own personal selfishness

It’s all about symbolism and PR, not solving things. Criticism of elites is that they are these rich snobs detached from the problems they create. Well moving migrants in is no longer being as detached

It’s like why do politicians go pose with shovels and hard hats like “I’m doing my part!”. It’s all about image, like I’m willing to get my own hands dirty
