Wasn't trolling... just super casual player here asking general question. It's nice to hear opinions from general standpoint cause things are brought up that I would have never thought of. Since there isn't much perspective/viewpoints from casual folks, I will say that 3 chanters + cleric while arguably best for the average hardcore endgame player probably isn't best for casual. We currently have Shaman, Mage, Necro as our core. Enchanter dropped, but is leveling up Wiz instead.

Almost any makeup can work for casual play. Just play what you like and you'll get by just fine! People will inevitably go down the best min/max hardcore theorycraft road when asked what the "best" is. As has been mentioned wizards aren't really a great group class but it honestly doesn't matter for casual play. Shaman mage and necro are all very powerful solo classes in their own right. Put them together and they can get shit done for sure regardless of what the 4th class is honestly. At endgame you can either go to zones with undead charms for the necro and have the pet tank or just have the shaman slow tank with casters handling most of the DPS and shaman saves mana to slow and heal itself. Root rotting won't work particularly well since the pets will end up tanking and mage nukes will break root constantly but there's plenty of options. You could have the necro fear kite stuff outdoors.etc

Depends on how you define "casual." You can level with most anything, sure. However, as one example, there are a lot of things the wife and I could do with our shadowknight/shaman duo that we could not do with other duos. Our old duo (cleric/paladin) from when we started on P99 in 2009 was much less capable. So composition does matter.

Nearly any 4-man starting out from scratch is going to lose someone or several someones along the way. That's part of why I advocate building premade groups with role redundancy in mind. A "perfect" group doesn't do any good if it loses a critical linchpin. In this specific case, the enchanter isn't strictly critical--the shaman/necromancer make a strong duo just on their own and can more or less carry the others, if needed--but they'll definitely feel the slower killrate.
