They were just switching things on and off to either see what it feels like to pull the plug on red or to test something red 2.0 related. I know this with 100% certainty despite living on the pacific coast (opposite side of country from rogean) and knowing nothing about any of the p99 staff in real life at all, except I think I've heard them all called bald so many times I definitely picture everyone as bald.
But seriously if you're cheating at project 1999 eventually you'll just see your accounts not work and you will have to pretend you quit playing for other reasons like everyone else who suddenly stopped showing up to school.
