The GMs aren't what you wish them to be.

GM's aren't the ones keeping the lights on, though. The project management staff (i.e. Rogean, Nilbog) are the ones actually running the servers. Going through their post history, it seems like Nilbog was active on bug fixes up until about seven months ago, with his last post being on 11/12/23. Rogean's activity has likewise dropped off, with a total of 4 posts over a one year period (three of which were simply XP bonus announcements, and one of which was a brief post in the Bugs section). I don't know what GM's are doing or not doing since I've frankly never interacted with them, but they're not relevant here.

It's kind of baffling.

It's not about finding missing happiness. For me personally anyway. It is about starting in a fresh world and meeting the population of the server organically in the same state of nakedness as it was 25 years ago.

It is about the journey. People seem to forget the reason they probably picked up Everquest for the first time. Say what you want. The possibility of getting a few more years of memorable experiences in a living Norrath is very appealing to me. Doing a curated meta when the timeline is over just doesnt appeal to me though, quite the opposite.

I just wonder why all the silence about it? There is always a reason for being silent on a topic many are interested to know about, and seeing the most recent patches leading up to end of Green's timeline(a long time ago now), makes me believe a new server is in the pipe, but may never happen depending on interest of the creators. That is fair. Why that can't be honestly articulated is unclear.

Either way: Ill be here when a new one launches, unless a game releases that could carry the torch another 25 years first. Not holding my breath for either lol.

Lol. In the context of this discussion, the focus is on the staff that actually have the power to decide the future of the project by implementing merges, fresh servers, etc. The last Velious patch for Green was a long time ago, and the lack of engagement / communication regarding a clear direction for the future of this project is confusing and a bit worrying.

just a thought, but green went live in 2019 in October.
This was pre-vaccine era, and mass is a heavily vaccinated state...
maybe their health has dropped quite a bit since green was introduced and they simply cannot keep up with their original intentions?
I know quite a few people have been in pretty degrading health around here in the past couple of years, always coughing.
