It's the thing where guilds get super paranoid and fussy about which guild members have access to various channels, because they're afraid of "spies" from other guilds. It's so much fun!

GET IN JOINT COMMS RIGHT NOW AND FILL OUT THE ROLE SHEET ON GOOGLE DOCS GAWWWWD = modern p99 raid scene
Lol oh yea I forgot

I remember from my time playing talking to my guild castle:

Me: /guild “Hey can I come raid?”
Castle: “Sure! All you have to do is hop in the discord and fill out a-“
Me: “Pass”

And then repeat that convo about 4 more times each time spaced out 6mo-1yr because I quit then come back and forgot the raid steps

Some would say there are far too many discord channels for P99. Especially considering discord/voice comms were not in era.
This is debatable since 3-way calling was a big thing in 1999. I remember my mom flipping out about a $200 phone bill, but even she was like, there's no way it was my son, he doesn't even know anyone in California ! And she legit got the phone company to drop the charges. But with local friends we used 3-way call a lot while playing.

I definitely learned to type super fast solely because of EQ however. I kind of get sad when I realize a lot of the 20-something year olds I game with can't actually type. You would think growing up in front of a keyboard that they would have picked it up, but I guess they've always had VC.
