Shaman, bard, paladin, i'd say. Cleric in a pinch. Anyone that can root, tank and heal

It really comes down to what the non-rogue player wants to play and if the rogue player doesn't care to chase down a feared mob. If fear is not an issue, I would go druid, necro, bard and perhaps Sk in that order. The utility on Druid puts in number one for me but go for whichever you fancy.
If fear is a no go, then I would go Shaman, Pally and Sk. Shaman is self explanatory while the Pally would be a lot of fun albeit slower than Shaman.

Dependent on gear/twinking. If self found the answers given are probably the best.

If both toons have access to a fungi; War or Monk would work with rogue and in my opinion have the most DPS output to melt mobs. I solo’d a warrior to 60 with truncheon of doom, when I felt like mixing it up and grouping rogue or monk were always my top pick for duo. Truncheon/fungi/blood points are already pretty nice soloing on a warrior, add in a rogue and no need for a healer if purely exping. Monk with a fungi as a partner just give the monk a 5 second head start to build some aggro and your golden.

With a fungi, good 2 hander, and Deepwater BP, a Pally would be a great option (Narandi Crown makes a big difference too). Think that would be far preferable to chasing around feared mobs. Zero agro issues and the dps makes up for the Pallys biggest weakness which is lack of dps.

Everyone complaining about chasing feared mobs. If you also snare it's the simplest thing in the world.

I don't have any experience with duo'ing with a Rogue but chasing feared mobs to backstab them seems like it would be pretty anti-fun for hours on end. Also as someone who plays a Necromancer I can't imagine feeling much of a benefit from duo'ing with a Rogue.

I have duo'd with a Rogue as a Shaman though. I usually root tank the mob. Obviously this isn't ideal, but in a lot of situations at 50+ when you can't find a full group in Karnor's it's better than nothing. Also with Shaman slows almost any melee can tank, right? Like I've had lots of Ranger tanks with my slows and they barely took damage. Regrowth keeps them pretty high HP.

Shaman slow tanking is a great strategy, especially if you have some nice gear like Fungi Tunic and Fungi Staff. The Rogue and your Shaman pet do good DPS to kill the mob quickly, so you won't take as much damage as a solo Shaman slow tanking.

People wouldn't complain if EQ had an option to auto-follow while auto-attacking.
