Meta would be better if we ran for everything like we did in 2016/17 if we are just gonna copy old metas anyways.

When a mob pops, only start the race at the xx00 or xx30 mark. No staring at walls for anyone ever.

This project would be in a much better place if the old playerbase had more thoroughly accounted for pixels. There are a number of items that remain excluded simply because of the few mentions of them ever dropping, due to rarity and/or the number of players who would have farmed the loc back then, pre-Luclin. SWC in Chardok, phase spider scimitar in DN, etc. If more players had discussed their daily encounters and kept meticulous records, we would have more nice things here. If SOE had provided players with a version of magelo on their official site, all the better. Hindsight. IMO the best magelos tell a story, each like a condensed version of "a day on red". Magelo is an underused feature that has a nostalgic quality to it now, given how long these servers having been maintained, but there are some cool profiles out there. More than a few of them even provide some context for server history. But there are better players on here who have the same alt headcount, if not more, and all with superior gear; they just don't advertise it. Given how long most players have been here, it seems lazy to call it pixel lust at all, since it's required a certain amount of commitment, even if long breaks were taken in between. The way I go about gearing starts on magelo and is restrictive by default, since I don't choose equipment based on personal preference but rather character preference. It's TLDR RP through equipment slots, visual storytelling for those who inspect. A lot of this game involves sitting around and waiting, so might as well have something noteworthy there, hidden in plain sight. "Soandso swigs a bottle of this or that" gets a few inquiries when there's a lull in the killing spree and players haven't heard of that item before. Regardless, the additional alts are simply "build" ideas that likely won't ever be realized, but ones that keep specific items, even BIS, designated for them and inaccessible to others, main and second main included. If any item doesn't fit the theme than it's excluded, saving time, plat, and dkp in the end. This way, even a completionist wouldn't feel as though they were missing out. That isn't to say BIS from head to toe isn't impressive, but it's just not something super important personally. It's more preferable to find a balance between fashion and function, enough to survive at least and, when not, leave behind a drag-worthy corpse. All that to say, it's the opposite of pixel lust. It's basically personal loot denial. | |||
