Is in the list of legacy items, but that stuffs removed items right, what happened to this? Is it a mistake, is it gone? Or did it used to be better and got nerfed?

Also does anyone know the recharge cost post the devs breaking recharges to be non classic?
At the top of the legacy item list:
https://wiki.project1999.com/Category:Legacy_Items

it says:
'Legacy items are items that were originally introduced to the game as normal items, but then (because the Verant developers realized that they were overly-powerful, or otherwise game-breaking), they were either changed to no longer drop or "nerfed" (ie. had their power lowered). '

So I don't think this item was removed but their could of been something nerfed about the effect.

I don't believe old dimshimmer doesn't spawn any more or that the item doesn't drop. I have had people they told me they saw him up recently. Multiple people. I've heard from guildmate druids that have seen this item and were aware of it. The last one was on the EC market in Feb 2025.

I have camped him for about 16 hours. Not one spawn. For the first 14 hours I farm all the hatching lings near the place holders. I also tried just sitting at 0,0 just clearing that section.

near hour 14 I started to believe the hatchlings aren't the place holders or there are more mobs in the spawn group.

I decided to take a look at https://www.takproject.net/allaclone/ datebase it shows more possible PH.

a_fae_drake (40%)
a_fae_drake_hatchling (20%)
a_mist_wolf (15%)
a_wasp_soldier (10%)
a_giant_spider (10%)
Old_Dimshimmer (5%)

I know the tak project is technically out of sync with p99... but its the closest open reliable date source.... considering its locked in Planes of Power era.

I got a little extra nerdy and spun up my own tak database and the data above matched.

I will find this item or my family won't have a Christmas.
Gods work mate shame my bard isn't high enough to highsun I could help ya.

If it's useful, I can confirm that Old Dimshimmer was still spawning and dropping this (on Blue, at least) as of this summer. I killed him several times in the process of camping Braided Ivy Cords and items for the Tunare Symbols a few months back.

As for learning the underlying spawn mechanics - I can provide a hint that this is one of very few spawns that is unchanged from a stock eqemu install - and the tak project appears to have changed it.

Are you selling them or you have plans for them? I'd really like to know how the illusion compares to others for faction.

Like the barbarians don't like wolf form and the warriors/guards don't like earth elemental. I always wanted to get two of these and recharge them.

I'd be curious to know how tree form (ench and druid if different) affect the halas guards specifically.

As a wood elf Tunare druid who I don't think has ever done anything to affect any barb faction, against Garn McMarrin I went from Dubiously to Apprehensively with treeform.

wow this might be the missing link then for faction questing the cities, places that hate wolf AND earth elemental can use this.

I know like Skelly form can benefit you more than wolf form for like outpost of FV.
it would be good to outline which cities are opened up by which illusions (unless FV/Barbs are the only ones)

I really need to get a pair of these.
