Returning Rogue

So I havent played EQ in roughly 20 years. I just recently got back into the game and made a Barbarian Rogue and have gotten to lvl 13. Now comes the question of what gear should I be trying to get? No twink gear unfortunately, I do not have the plat for that.

Biggest thing is re-roll gnome - add seeing through walls and ability to see anything at night, and not be stranded in Halas.

Loot everything, sell it to vendors, buy backpacks for all of your slots so you don't have to run to town as often.

These servers are so aged that there isn't as much of a market for lower end gear but the OG play for a brand new person on a server was a full set of banded armor - used to sell for about 1pp per AC.

If your able to make your way to east commonlands that's where all the traders/tunnelquest people are and you will likely get some items gifted to you that are far better than anything you'll acquire on your own starting out.

Yea I made it to EC and there was little to no low level rogue gear anywhere and the stuff I did find was obscenely expensive. I figured out real quick I'm gonna have a rough time getting gear unless it's dropped from something my level. I was able to get a full set of banded for around 50pp total.

Yeah the server is top heavy and most people already have money/gear so they won't spend a couple days in EC trying to sell a 25pp item. The upside is you can buy a sarnak backstabber or the likes for 150pp and it will carry you to 60.

I'm sure someone could hook you up but that kinda ruins the fun of returning to the game.

Your biggest hurdle is you picked just about the worst solo/farming class so if you want to make some coin early on you'll have to carve yourself some niche in the market with like bone chips or whatever to earn some coin or kill gargoyles and vendor the eyes when you're strong enough to tackle them.

Unrelated but you'll have to group as a rogue and the exp treadmill is usually unrest/mistmoore/COM/Karnor's/velks for steady grouping.

hey barbarian! If you are still in the halaas qeynos area, go hunt bandits solo and exp off them collecting red bandit sashes, grind there until youre 17 or 18, and you turn the sashes into a paladin guild in Qeynos for a bronze wep that you can sell for 3-9 plat! its a great way to make starter cash for someone in your situation!

Yeah that is solid advice, that scheme is hard to beat. Also keep an eye on willowisps and kill them all, you can turn in lightstones/greater lightstones in NK/SRO for good money/exp but you'll need a magic weapon to hurt the wisps.
