Nah, this is a thread about keeping P99 alive. You cannot keep a server healthy indefinitely and maintain a specific experience if you only limit it to the first two expansions.

People who say SoL and PoP killed EQ are wrong. WoW did more damage - timing just provided some with the illusion that it was SoL or PoP.

Wrong. Luclin and especially Planes were irredeemable trash that destroyed the game, WoW or no WoW. I had already given up and quit EQ well before WoW launched.

As for P99, you don't preserve something by destroying everything it's supposed to be. Content isn't the problem here anyhow. Game has a ton of content. If P99 needs anything it's a change of heart from the admins and a move to a ruleset more suited to the needs of regular players instead of the traditional P99 rules that favor only the highest-hours players.

I didn't play Planes of Power, but I kind of enjoyed Luclin. The Nexus pretty much destroyed the teleport economy in a lot of ways, but having the Bazaar and not having to sit online for hours just to sell stuff was invaluable.

The Nexus wasn't really that bad. Turns out people would rather pay for a port than wait 30 minutes to port to the nexus from one continent and then to the other.
