[Wed Jul 16 00:11:08 2025] You resist the Invoke Fear2 spell!
|
Thank you. This confirms to me that this is indeed not something new and I would presume it was always the Soothebrine Seahorses casting the Invoke Fear2 spell in each instance of combat, not the other Spinereef or Squallsurge Seahorses.
I guess the only questions I have left about this is if Invoke Fear2 is just a 6 second stun spell as some have suggested and is it incorrect for it to be labeled as Invoke Fear2 rather than the level 55 Cleric AOE stun spell "Stun Command" and is it also not correct for it to be displaying the spinning skull animations typical of a fear spell being cast.
So I ran "Invoke fear2" through the search engine and found some interesting information.
Sources there say the spell is actually a spell cast by NPC Necromancers similar to Screaming Terror in that it is an 18 second stun/mez. The message when not resisted being "You freeze in terror!" and that it is almost always resisted with at least 75 MR.
So I guess the real confusion to me in all this is why are Cleric Seahorses casting 18 second stun Necromancer spells?
I know it seems like a bug to me but it is probably just a classic quirk/feature in that it was just never correctly labeled that or made to be the proper spell by Cleric class (Stun Command level 55) but just always understood by all that it was this way to begin with and never changed during classic.
Another thing I want to understand is if it is an AoE effect or does the target Seahorse randomly go from agro on my pet to casting it on me? Because in each case of it being cast and resisted the target Seahorse was in combat with a charmed Seahorse as a pet which made me think that it must be an AoE spell
