World of Warcraft is the true spiritual successor to EverQuest.

All I remember from WoW beta was item server loot lag off corpses and playing servant for nonstop fetch quests. I hate questing.

Pulling in EQ is the same thing as fetch quests
and when the pullers left for WoW there was no more exp or raids in eq

the epic quests are those most epic of fetch quests in gaming, one giant shopping list of items a few npc's need you to go get for them.

It was an epic fetch quest for a pretty good reward. No issue with that model. The pickup 10 crops 20ft from my house as an exp progression model is the worst thing to happen to gaming since EA and maybe horse armor.

Both EQ and WoW had an amazing vanilla experience and then started going down hill on their 2nd expansions which were both ice themed.

WotLK was the only decent expansion WoW ever made!!
