What level did you start LOIO? I went there yesterday expecting to charm "a pond sturgeon" but apparently they aren't animals.. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
low 20s. you can do the tigresses by where the goblin gazughi ring camp is. then i eventually moved to the grimalkins near the fm zone. the key is to always not attack other animals with your charmed pet so you can keep the other animals open for future pets..

For charming, is it really just perma bears and Chardok at 55+? Or am I missing something
In terms of good solo charming for xp, yeah. Here's a couple other ideas, each with some obvious disadvantages.

Kedge Keep is a fun challenge at 60 to kill all the nameds, but you can also xp there. The biggest disadvantage (other than the whole underwater thing) is the respawn rate of 22 minutes combined with no area having all that many mobs results in a fairly low xp/hour for a grind session. Best treated imo as a zone you can pop into for a half hour at time, kill some stuff, then log out until it repops. I can write up a little guide if you're interested.

If you've got a decent duo or trio at WL geos, you can charm a panther and bring it into the caves for some extra DPS.

The "beach" area at Sirens Grotto is fun and very dangerous. You absolutely need 60 and Nature's Touch to kill the higher level mermaids, but by 57-58 you could probably kill the lower-level ones without too much trouble. Nothing makes you feel more alive than eating an 800pt backstab while pulling a mermaid. You can also charm kill the walruses and sea elephants at the zoneline to WW, but there's a pathing molkor you need to time and you'll have to zone out and reset more oftan than you'll get the kill, so it's more a fun challenge than reliable xp. But I once duoed with another druid who showed me how we could clear from the zoneline all the way to the water, which was a fun adventure.

In EW you can charm an elder snow griffin, buff it up, and wipe out all the trash that drops stuff for the coldain ring quests. Don't think you'll get much if any xp but it is rather fun to do.

In Kithicor at night you can charm an enraged dread wolf and lay waste to all the undead. The dread wolf is an undercon with high regen so with haste and thorns it's a very strong pet. The challenge is that by the time they don't constantly break charm all the undead is greening out, and by 54 I'm sure just about everything is green.

In GD you can charm Bloodmaw, thorn him up, and sic him on Vludeen. Fairly easy, very effective, but Vludeen is a 3-day respawn so you can't grind it. I've tried sending Bloodmaw at frost giant elites, which works, but they chew through his health so much you have to reset him just about after every fight.

If you find a monk killing LDCs in Sol B who's amenable to the idea, you can bring a charmed bat and probably make it worth both your while.
