Yeah my impression from watching a few streams is that solo farming raid bosses in EQL is the equivalent of solo farming a normal camp in P99.

I did think the diablo 4 style weapon effect system of improving, harvesting, and applying effects to new items seems cool and a new flavor. Makes it so you want to farm the raid bosses on repeat versus just to get a singular item a singular time.

But yeah if raid bosses are the normal camp meta you kinda need a whole other level to the game to keep people engaged, just like a large portion of the P99 community is raid only at this point and no longer engages in normal camp farms.

Difficulty levels could be cool but not sure how far they ramp up. Could be cool to be able to just go to your favorite zone in the game and do the full 1-50 grind + AAs with applicable difficulty but not sure that it really is dynamic enough to cover the full range. Like can I make crushbone a zone that would be tough at lvl 50 with a high enough difficulty?

You can get a shrink clicky in Blackburrow. I don’t know what the heck they’re thinking with this itemization. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The type of OG EQ play that dictated:

If you get 10% exp in the level today, it was a productive day in game...
If you complete one portion of a quest today, it was a productive day...
If you gain 1 AA today, it was a productive day...

is what kept people logging into EQ for years and years.
Exactly. EverQuest is a game of slow but steady progress, and much of the feeling of satisfaction comes from overcoming the adversity presented by the world of Norrath itself, which is substantial. And because the game does not hold your hand in any way, there is a feeling of legitimate accomplishment every time you manage to extract even a minor win from the game, be that a new level, a new item, or a completed quest. EQL does away with all of this: progress is very fast, loot practically falls from the sky, and its version of Norrath could not possibly be safer or more accommodating. The end result is a game that demands nothing of the player, and for all intents and purposes might as well play itself.

Either the devs fundamentally don't understand what made EQ such a fun and addicting game, or they are catering to a vocal minority of players who just want the game to be as easy as possible. I think these players are essentially just very stupid and delusional, and simply don't understand that what they're asking for will result in a game that loses all of its appeal after a few weeks of dedicated play. They just think it will be very cool and fun to solo Nagafen and get a Cloak of Flames. There isn't any thought beyond that. It's very unfortunate. A huge missed opportunity, but hopefully one which they can learn from to deliver a better version of EQL in the future.
