Correct. AC does not lower the value of a mob's max hit.

AC can lower the amount of max hits you take. That can reduce damage spikes between CH casts. This is useful during times where the CH chain is disrupted for whatever reason, as a simple example.

Two things, one has already been said in this thread: you will get enough AC while stacking raid gear that gives +HP. No need to stack AC.

The other is murphy's law. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. AKA: Keep stacking HP to help with smoothing out spikes.

But the reality is that tanking AoW doesn't spike. It only dips. The spike is the norm. You'd know that if you've ever been to a raid...

Everybody in this thread (including myself) agrees with the idea that AoW has one of the highest Wrath values in the game. If not the highest.

You would know that other raid targets are less difficult than AoW if you actually raided.

Yeah, so if you know no raiding guild is setting up a ch chain big enough to last several hours on AoW so a warrior can try different setups to pinpoint a softcap nobody gives a shit about so why are you demanding that from him again?

Finding the softcaps is still relevant for a lot of classes if you're not dripping BIS gear.

Indeed. This is what Samoht is missing. The best 100 HP gear is often expensive DKP wise. Many Warriors are far from BiS, and will remain that way for a long time.

You can get inexpensive items that help with your tanking while you wait in the long line of Warriors for full BiS gear.

Healed enough ch chains in raids with bis monks trying to tank vindi and they just get absolutely smoked compared to a war. Between their special ac doing nothing, having less hp, and no defensive it wasn’t even remotely close.

I've been through plenty of CH chains myself.

Not all raid targets are Vindi or AoW.

Velious was beaten in Kunark gear. Everybody knows that you don't need full BiS gear with the best AC, HP, and/or Resists to beat all raid content.

I don't know why people think they look cool or special for pointing this out.

OP is asking about AC because they want to know how the game works anyway. If people weren't have fun collecting items they don't strictly need, P99 would have died years ago.
