Monks beat up bards pretty seriously early on just because of mad DPS advantage.

Later on a bard could easily escape any monk and if the monk keeps chasing the bard the bard can dot him to death. Bards really help groups dominate their opponents.

Monks on the other hand can be lethal 1 on 1 in some circumstances and get dominated in others.
