Group Exp radius

Last night while grouping we split up to try and cover as much ground as possible, but some of us weren't getting exp for kills, yet everyone was the same level. Do you not get zone-wide exp? If not how large is the area that you need to be within?

yeah, it's the same way it is for the blue box. some times when i'm pulling hgs or something i won't get exp for the one that my group is currently killing

I also want to be able to hide a friend's char to xp who has less play time.
