Kicked to desktop when clicking any box-type area like the hotkey actions in EQ UI
Hello everyone reading:
I click a box-type area on the UI from within EverQuest, and the game immediately minimizes and pulls me out of the game back to the desktop. What can be done about this? It does this even when I am on character select sometimes and if I alt+tab to get back to the EQ UI it continually does this, it just keeps booting me to a black screen for a very short time, then I am back on desktop. I have to actually log a character and then stay within the EQ environment in full screen, because if I ever get put to the desktop in any way, if I come back and click any box (like the hotkey action bar or even the chat box) I get booted out to desktop. It is very annoying. I remember having an install that didn't do this, but I had so many different things over time installed on that machine and that install for the longest time, so I might have had something that prevented it, not sure. I have my drivers for my graphics card updated and such, but maybe there is something missing somewhere? I have an AMD Phenom ii x4 810 processor, but I doubt that's part of the issue (who knows..) What can be done? I would really appreciate any kind of help on this issue...I must not be the only one this has happened to, as it just starts to happen by default really after installing. I run with the highest resolution possible for my monitor ..what is it? 1920 x 1080 I think. I just want the game so that it doesn't kick me out to minimized every time I click a box in the EQ UI. dual quad core fix? OH YEA now I remember....thank you so much for trying to help. I will give it a try. MQ2? no way isn't that a hack? hehe hacks will never be in my blood lol but good idea maybe I will have to try another UI...may help.
Gonna go look that up...the dual/quad core fix...might be part of it..Thanks a lot, that's a step. | ||

Nah even when loading a new UI it still won't stop minimizing me to desktop [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
even tried this http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25327 but the thing where you put the command into the icon properties doesn't really work. I don't know where an AMD driver is..that site is all messed up when trying to get Phenom stuff appropriate for Windows 7. So much for being a great CPU company (which they are, always go AMD heh). Maybe just getting the one that is compatible with server 2003 is the way to go, but they aren't updating a phenom for windows 7 oh well. I don't know what else can be done...kinda a pain in the ass, pretty much makes the game unplayable :/ even when asked here http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/sho...uest+minimizes the guy who runs the show didn't even know lol...so what the hell can be done now :/ | ||

Fix
Mines does the same thing. After you go back FS in game, go to video settings and reapply them. Get your little popup to confirm and click yes. Will keep you from clicking "ghost" desktop items in background where the games hasn't took the foremost position on screen so to say. Its maximized but it kicks you out cause you actually click on desktop, since EQ isn't on TOP

Another fix to this issue is after you click back into eq, load option and first select fullscreen mode. Then in options reload your UI.
Its a bandaid fix, but it holds until next time you alt tab out or relog. I have an ATI 5570 that exhibits this issue. | ||
