Default Level 8+ enchanter pet

I'm about to ding 8. Will be next time I decide to play EQ instead of skyrim.

I have enough for 5 spells and I've already got root.

I figure I'll get chaotic feedback, lesser shielding, see invisible, and then I'm torn. I dont know if I will use the 8+ pet. With pet exp how it is, I'd rather just root rot without a pet. I don't want to risk losing 75% exp. Am I wrong? The 4 dot will last me until 12. On beta I never even bought chaotic feedback (lol money).

Would you get the 8+ pet? I find it mostly worthless.

Also, is sentinel worth getting? I vaguely remember it. It just repeats the direction and name of nearest mob or does it work with players too? Does it just report to you or everyone?

Wiki is wrong. Pet only eats 50% of exp when the both of these conditions are met:

1) You are ungrouped
2) Pet outdmgs you

You can be grouped with someone who isn't even in the same zone as you, let your pet do 100% dmg to a mob, and you will get 100% exp. Enjoy.

The pet exp nerf was implemented really poorly imo. It's not really a nerf to pet classes at all, it's just a nerf to people who want to solo and not go through the trouble of finding someone to join their group that isn't in their zone. Server is clearly custom-classic, and pet exp nerf was just not a good change.

Really? I wasn't aware. This changes everything.

Yeah, all the old duos that were good before are unaffected, it just is a PITA to solo now.

I would not recommend sentinel. While in some situations it can give you advance warning of approaching enemies, it also lets them know they are close to you (and puts you in their target box if it was empty)

So it does report to everyone? Maybe just drop it and leave. It is area based, not character.. i think... its been years since ive used it.
