Server Firsts

[Autotune]

looking at the Server First list, it's hard to say what should and shouldn't (excluding VP trash drops).

Looking at the past, some random items are up there that definitely got replaced. I think when looking to see what should be added for VP, go with what is most sought after for the time period (VP pre-epics).

definitely add
Robe > Crown > Cloak

Next inline
Dragonborn hammer > Grey Suede > earring

Possibles
Trorsmang > RSSS > Shissar Apothic Staff (whatever it is that gets removed) > best tankerton sword.

I think if one item from a category gets added then the others should be as well.

You're absolutely right. All haste items have been traditionally included in this post, partially because they were at one time the best single items any player could obtain, and partially to stave off arguments I was getting from people. In any case, I want to continue the tradition, and your use of the word "almost" kind of bugs me. What haste items are missing?

Seriously - Any items can be added here for many reasons. Most prominent on the list of reasons is rarity, but difficulty to obtain an item and also how it affects the class (best in slot, or highly coveted status).. For instance, Weight of the Gods is neither rare nor difficult to obtain (assuming you're in PoS killing stuff), but I bet most that have dropped are still being worn?

grey suede boots are the best haste item that drops and isn't a sky quest, they should definately be included.

I was more referring to the Dragoon Dirk lol. I suppose the gaunts is one too, but i remember you talking about getting them before porting.

if you put class only things like Bo Staff of Trorsmang then I want all the enchanter loot on there. I got both robe and staff. eat that monks

Some class only items may be included, depending on whether or not they are defining for the class for some time. Ideally, a class-specific item from VP would only be listed if it won't be obsoleted until late velious, if at all.

At the time, Dragoon Dirk was leet. You gotta understand that some of the classic firsts were listed because when they were obtained, only one or maybe two people were within 5 levels of being able to obtain them..

"Full banded" is listed, actually..

Could have dropped it to "first magic weapon" maybe, but confirming that would have been hard, as that particular era was some time before the thread started.. Things like dragoon dirk, full banded, gem inlaid gaunts were taken from my own memory (it was well known who got what first, back when not many things were worth noting) and confirming with old schoolers from many guilds, including Transcendence (the Too Many Overlords of it's day).
