As a cleric, if I am not /anon or /role at 2am, I get tells filling my screen "Wanna group in [random zone nowhere near me]?" "We just lost our healer can you come fill in at [another random zone I have no interest in]?" "Could you find a port and help me [do a random event on another continent]?" "I need a revive in [either the zone I am in or one within 15 minutes of me], I don't care about xp"
It's annoying as hell.
Also... I prefer to solo my cleric... Only grouping when absolutely necessary...

I turn /anon on or off depending on whether I'm in the mood to get requests for spells/group invites or not. I frequently have it on and also frequently have it off.

What about the people that go Anon & LFG at the same time? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
I wonder about that too.

I've found some limited use of /anon and /lfg at once. This basically the equivalent of "I want to be left alone right now unless you know me".

You still show up on friendlists with the LFG on. People that know you know what your class is.

They are probably in a raid zone, either they just got there and are letting the raid know they need a group or the raid is still being organized and groups are being made

Apparently I am in the minority or maybe the only person annoyed by anon people. Which is baffling, but oh well. It's usually not a big deal anyhow. I received some possible good reasons for going anon, and I'll just leave it at that. And no I don't steal people's camp, but then again I have never camped anything in my entire life. Groups I am in might say whatever camp we are in, but honestly I could care less. I don't feel like I've ever owned said camp or mob.
But aren't you trying to make a big deal about it?

It's a players right to go anon or roleplay.

Still think it should be disabled.

If your guild really is better you can mobilize faster or do the dragon/god with less/earlier.

The point of a community is so people can help each other out. Which is the main purpose boxing is banned here. Yet so many people are /anon and /roleplay and clerics hide their class so they don't have to rez/buff, druids so they don't have to port/buff, enchanters so they don't have to buff, mages so they don't have to DS/Summon Mod rods and muzzles, necros so they don't have to corpse summon/rez/DMF, rogues so they don't have to corpse drag, wizards so they don't have to port.

etc. etc. I still think that if you are all gung-ho about boxing ruining a server because of the lack of a sense of community and needing other players, then you shouldn't be /anon or /roleplay, because basically when you are using that its just saying you don't want to be disturbed by anyone else in need of help.

As a druid I go anon when I'm in a group and we have moved to whatever fight we plan on doing that evening, or else I get tells about porting someone here or there, or if I'm doing a lot of AFK solo stuff where I could be AFK for 5-10 mins at a time and don't want people sending tells about buffs/ports/etc and thinking I'm ignoring them because I don't respond while AFK. (amazing how even using AFK people still spam request in tells [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] )

Other than those times I usually am not anon and more than happy to help with buffs, sow or ports.

Just a discussion, that is all. I've never gone anon in all the time I have played EQ, but I am very helpful community person and have nothing to hide. I realize people have the right and their reasons for doing it. I simply disagree. I might just have to play one of these classes that are forced to go Anon because of the flood of tells to find out first hand. My guess is that it is a bit exaggerated.
