Default Racial Choices and Mid/Late Game

I have been wondering about this for quite a while now, and would like to ask the community their thoughts.

I was wondering about the "best" races for a class, AKA: Ogre SK's, Erudite Wizards, High Elf Clerics, Barbarian Rogues, they all have (arguably) the best stats for their given race/class combos, and I can see that being advantageous in the beginning of the game, as well as later in the game, but how much of an impact does it really have.

For a realworld example, let's discuss SK's. Would an Erudite SK be that much weaker in comparison to an Ogre SK? would the Ogre be able to tank more effectively, do more damage? How much health would the race itself contribute at level 50-60. I know their is the racial abilities, and XP penalties, but taking that out of the equation, are base stats the end all be all?

Stats never ment more in EQ classic.

It will probably be more of an issue if you are just starting out. Less of an issue if you are twinking.

Back in classic, we the main tank of our raiding guild was a wood elf warrior.

It didnt matter much.

the only thing that is nice is some racials. Large races get stun when it comes to melee, ogres frontal stun immunity... and i think the best racial is iksar and troll health regen... thats just beyond beneficial for soloing at least. but stats.. eh they are all capped in the long run, its just how easy you can cap them.

So, what i've gathered so far is starting stats are largely over-rated, it's really the racial traits that are the clinchers. I have never actually been able to find out a number on the troll/ikky regen though. Does anyone actually know? haha

Yeah the starting stats aren't going to make or break you in the end. Personally I picked DE because of the hide ability, but other races have their own pros/cons. One smart thing to do would be to sit down and plan out your character. Are you planning to be decked out in VP gear at some point, or have mid-range droppable gear for the lifetime of the character?? Plan your stats accordingly.

from
http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Iksar
Regeneration

Level 01-19: 4 sitting, 2 feigned, 2 standing
Level 20-49: 6 sitting, 2 feigned, 2 standing
Level 50: 8 sitting, 2 feigned, 2 standing
Level 51-55: 12 sitting, 8 feigned, 6 standing
Level 56-59: 16 sitting, 12 feigned, 10 standing
Level 60: 18 sitting, 14 feigned, 12 standing

i believe trolls are the same regen

but what I gathered from the response was stats dont matter... IF you twink hard or if you raid later

For an idea of regen rates at specific level categories... refer here.

http://www.monkly-business.net/index...geid=abilities

Iksar is a NO BRAINER for monks and necros... the faction nonsense is easy to deal with especially when you look at the numbers... I'll paste a few in here to show their power.

Level 1:
Regen Rate (Human): 2 points every 6 seconds if sitting, 1 if feigning death, 1 if standing
Regen Rate (Iksar): 4 sitting, 2 FD, 2 standing

Level 20
Regen Rate (Human): 3 sitting, 1 FD, 1 standing
Regen Rate (Iksar): 6 sitting, 2 FD, 2 standing

Level 51
Regen Rate (Human): 5 sitting, 3 FD, 2 standing
Regen Rate (Iksar): 12 sitting, 8 FD, 6 standing

Level 56
Regen Rate (Human): 6 sitting, 4 FD, 3 standing
Regen Rate (Iksar): 16 sitting, 12 FD, 10 standing

Level 60
Regen Rate (Human): 7 sitting, 5 FD, 4 standing
Regen Rate (Iksar): 18 sitting, 14 FD, 12 standing

---

Hope this helps... Enjoy and choose wisely.

Stats will ALWAYS matter... a little less when velious comes out due to the great gear allowed from that expansion. The regen is unbeatable... I'm considering making an Iksar Necro just to mess with people=)

Look on the wiki for how to attribute your stats to your specific class and race... Normally those that are given are pretty good. Also determine class exp penalties and race penalties *(if any) and make a more intelligent decision. For anyone wondering... Iksar regen is like having the shammy spell Regeneration on full time... but heck you could just become a shammy for that.

Don't be a Half-Elf druid. We have to work way harder for our mana pool [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]. AFAIK myself and Deano are the only 2 60 HE Druids on the server, and we both have about 200-300 less mana vs a comparably geared 60.

And we don't really have any benefit over the other races in terms of other stats.
