Given that this server is a Hobby it is unlikely that there will be regular expansions or new content.

So a dramatic increase in Xp will just push everyone to 50 with limited content, Classically unbalanced PvP and on a darker note... Drastically increased xp will bring along a higher temptation to cheat since you could reroll easier if you get banned. With the recent rash of exploits we don't need to encourage folks and the slower xp means more risk since there is a greater chance to catch / "rat out" the exploiters.

The emphasis on drastic xp bonus for PvP's sake is misguided. EQ is a PvE game, we have the benefit of spicing things up with PvP but reducing the game time spent in PvE is just asking for trouble since 90% of the game is PvE and the other 10% relies on a classically mediocre PvP ruleset.

Sadly, If you need a fast, no grind, focused PvP fix then try another game that offers conveniences like Easy Fast travel, Battlegrounds and other WoWish crap.

Play EQ the way it was designed, group with friends, check out the old zone and dungeons, have fun leveling and mix in some PvP when you can. Playing against the design will just leave you disappointed and crying on the forums.

Have you ever tried grouping with your friend who is a troll shadow knight and watched your exp gain grind drop to 1/3 of a percent per kill? Have you ever told your friend playing a monk to sit his ass down in a corner for the next couple days and don't move so the magician fire pet can tank with ds?

Nah he cares about having fun, not just racing to 50.

I play a Monk and no one has asked me to sit down :P

Seriously what are you rushing for ? You will make more XP by grouping than soloing and it's more fun so bring along your Troll Shadow Knight friend.

The push to trivialize P99 is like a petition to have the Boston Marathon only be 5 miles long because it take too long to run 26 or that lazy people should be able to ride bikes because running is boring.

The Marathon is a Marathon not a 5k walk for breast cancer, it is a test, a trail an accomplishment.

It blows my mind that a lvl 13 monk would be posting in this thread, that's all I have to say.

Amuk your mind must be pretty weak if a simple post from a new player would blow it... just saying...

I am posting to counter the crying that the server is dead and that nobody plays on RED 99. I am not claiming to be an EQ genius, I haven't hit 50 yet, I haven't done any Raids...

But as a new player, I am low level and see what low level RED looks like, I live it and it isn't all doom and gloom as the jaded , impatient, Vets make it out to be. In reality the EQ Classic grind isn't scaring away all new players just the weak ones :P

Granted things may change when I get to the 30's like Steaks eluded to but for now things are moving along and my guild and I are having fun.

If there is a need to dimiss people's opinions on these forums, I would start by discounting those that don't donate regularly to keep the server running. If we are going to have to wade through countless pages of trolling threads the least the trolls can do is pay for the server development.

The servers boring, there was less than 100 on Saturday at peak time. I was here day opening and have seen people drop off like flies. When I say it blows my mind that a level 13 is talking it's because I mean you haven't gone through any kind of difficulty yet. You have played in Qeynos and Blackburrow - come talk to me in a couple months. We still have a guild mate monk who's lvl 40 who logs on every day see's noone online and logs. You really don't know shit and are comming here arguing against making a change which could help the population - and it pisses me off. I don't go post on how to suck a dick threads and try to fuck your hobby up.

I feel sorry for your 40th level Monk friend.

The assumption that a drastic increase in the XP is going to "fix" EQ classic is unproven and pushing people quickly to 50 with such a limited amount of PvP content will bring about it's own set of problems.

Sucking dick aside, your opinion is as valid as anyone elses.

Thats why pvp xp loss was a terrible idea.

Leveling on rallos took forever because you were always busy having fun pvping.

People are too cautious on red because of xp loss and it turns into a
carebear/zerg fest.
