Ok I talked to my friend that practically IS an iksar he remembers so much from that time. He said the weapons were indeed iksar only. This makes me very sad that I didn't look into this before spending all of that time.
He also said the "I lost my weapon" quests weren't in for a long time. And that the tradeskill combines weren't no fail (I don't remember any though, maybe he's talking about shaman or warrior).
We had a big fat troll shadowknight in our guild in those days, and I remember him doing faction very early, even before we were in veeshan's peak (and we got some of the first kills in there). I'll try to track him down and see what he says as well.
