I give better than even odds that it will kinda suck.
I will bet you 50k pp on blue that it will be an overwhelming success.

We're talking about Blizzard, a company that has cancelled multiple titles (Starcraft: Ghost for the naysayers) in the past because it wasn't up to their standards. Hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on development only to be completely scrapped. A company that clears $1b annually, easy. They've got cash to burn and have no reason to release a shitty product.

I'll take that bet.

Success /= Good Game.

Its obvious its going to be a success, they already have a huge enough following to make the sales, and out of those millions there are enough who will play it and enjoy it.

Still doesn't make it a good game!

I'm not going to lie, they could just re-release Diablo 2 with better graphics and I'll still enjoy the shit out of it. I've enjoyed every single game Blizzard has ever put out so I will be surprised if this is any different.

But I do agree with everyone else, it's a different type of game than EQ. It might cut down on my P99 playtime but it won't make me leave completely by any means.

So according to you, World of Warcraft is a wonderful game? I think we have completely different standards for excellence.

He said 'successful' , not 'wonderful'...

While the second is subject to personal opinions, the first is not. Numbers don't lie. Between the Warcraft RTS series, Starcraft RTS series, Diablo and World of Warcraft - Blizzard has been a dominant force all over the gaming scene.

Even DoTA has a bigger funbase/playerbase than entire companies would dream/envy of having - right now.

Actually DotA's (paying/registered/active) fanbase is low compared to what Riot/League of Legends has.

I'm afraid your statement is rooted in ignorance, sir.

WoW success is similiar to McDonalds success. They both deliver a fast, convenient and cheap product which is fantastic for the instant satisfaction crowd. A sports analogy would be WoW = mini golf, EQ = real golf. I doubt any Blizzard game will deviate from that course.

Actually, Lorraine's statement is 100% true. There are definitely entire companies that would dream of having a following the size of DoTA's.

Herp derp.
